GMRS Repeater Offset & Tone Planner

Pick the repeater’s output frequency and the tones the owner gave you. You’ll get the receive and transmit frequencies and tone settings to program, on a one-page printout. It runs in your browser; nothing is stored.

1. The repeater you want to use

Program your radio

Input is 5 MHz above output: each 467 MHz main channel pairs with a 462 MHz main channel (95.1763(a), (c)).
0 = no tone.
0 = carrier squelch (hear everything on the output).

Before you key up

  • Ask the repeater owner for permission and the tones. Owners may allow anyone, or limit use to specific people (95.1705(d)).
  • Identify with your call sign at the end of a transmission and at least every 15 minutes (95.1751).
  • Subaudible tones (300 Hz or lower) may be sent continuously; audible tones are limited to 15 seconds at a time (95.377).
  • Listen first: no GMRS channel is assigned for any system’s exclusive use (FCC GMRS page).

How it works

  • Receive on the repeater’s 462 MHz main-channel output.
  • Transmit on the paired 467 MHz main channel: output + 5 MHz, e.g. 462.5500 → 467.5500 MHz (95.1763).
  • Tones: the standard CTCSS list. The owner tells you which input tone opens the repeater. Subaudible tones may be sent continuously (95.377).

Always ask the owner for permission first: owners may allow anyone or limit use to specific people (95.1705(d)). See how to use a GMRS repeater.
